The Rising at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza
A Creative District for the heart of LA
The Rising is a comprehensive visioning study to re-think the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza as a music, film, art and retail destination- anchored by walkable neighborhoods of infill housing. The 870,000 mall was built in 1947 and has served as the anchor of the Crenshaw District, a hub of public life for the African American community of Los Angeles. The Rising works to bring the culture of Crenshaw to the world stage, bringing together content creators, community interests and a futurists vision for urbanism in Los Angeles.
