ISLA PASEO DE LOS ANGELES
Isla de Los Angeles Housing and Annenberg Paseo, is the first ‘shared street’ built in the City of Los Angeles.
The project will serve as a model of how to re-design streets across the city. The streetscape re-design is in conjunction with a 54 unit supportive housing project. The site is located adjacent to one of the busiest freeway intersections in the world, the 110 FWY and 105 FWY interchange. The landscape creates a ‘living lung’ forest with over 50 trees being planted to create a filter that will sequester toxins from the freeway. A series of pocket parks, gardens and plazas create a new pedestrian oriented network of open spaces for the building residents and surrounding community.
